Week 4 • Touring Tampere

X the ride- POV

This week has been spent touring all over Tampere, sightseeing, and getting to know my way around the city more and more.

My host brother, Aleksi has been kind enough to take me around to see some of his favorite attractions, like a few museums and the amusement park, Särkäniemi. We spent the whole day there, riding roller coasters, visiting the Tampere zoo, and eating Finnish junk food.

I knew that coming here I was going to try things I hadn’t tried before, so I decided internally that whatever ride Aleksi wanted to go on, I would go on as well. (Aleksi is maybe a bit of a daredevil.) He started off slow, but eventually, I found myself on the ‘X’, a terrifying looking contraption, that would surely result in death. I don’t know what ghost possessed me and got me on the ride, but I couldn’t help think to myself, ‘I’m going to need video proof of me riding this, or no one is going to believe me.’ Of course, I couldn’t take any videos because the ride was moving much too fast, but I guess people will just have to trust me. (There’s a link at the top of this post so you can see it from another rider’s Point of view).

After an exhausting couple of days touring around Tampere, I was really excited to sign up for my online courses for schooling back home.

The rest of the week was quite mellow, Aleksi took me to a few other museums, but I don’t remember what they were called because we didn’t stay very long. I would definitely like to go there one day on my own or with someone willing to go a bit slower and actually walk through all of the exhibits. 🙂

I’m so happy you enjoyed them! Thank you so much for taking the time to read through all of them, and a big Finnish hug (that’s an oxymoron- they aren’t big huggers, but I”m trying to convert them!) from me to the Penticton club!
